Week 1: Thing 1
Assigned: January 17, 2017
Due: January 20, 2017
For week one choose something as your subject that you can move and photograph in different places. It might also be something that you can photograph in different states or configurations, like a flashlight or a book.

Explore taking pictures of the subject from different angles and different distances. Try changing the lighting in the room or using an extra light source like your camera"s flash or a movable lamp. When you"re done exploring, pick your three favorites to submit for this assignment.

Attach your three favorites to an e-mail to Mr. Gwin (jgwin@mvcsonline.com) from your sonblazer.net account. Save copies of the images to a folder on your flash drive as well. You will need these later on in the semester.

My example for this week was a laser pointer toy for my cat. My three favorites are given below (click on each image to see it full siz). They include one where I pointed the laser at the camera lens. It"s important to never point lasers at an eye, so I was curious what it would look like through the camera.

Week 2: Thing 2
Assigned: January 17, 2017
Due: January 27, 2017
For week two pick something that is a little larger and not easily moved. For example, it could be a piece of furniture, something hanging on a wall, or maybe a tree or shrub. Pick a subject that you can easily photograph from different angles.

Like last week, explore different angles and lighting conditions, but also think about something called the rule of thirds. Click here for a brief video about the rule of thirds.

My example for this week was a large wall mounted candle holder. My three favorites are given below. After you"ve watched the video above look at consider how I used the rule of thirds to frame my photographs.

For week three look down! Explore taking straight down towards the ground. Your pictures should have at least three different surface textures in them. For example, look for corners of a yard where grass, wall and sidewalk come together.

Attach your three favorites to an e-mail to Mr. Gwin (jgwin@mvcsonline.com) from your sonblazer.net account. Save copies of the images to a folder on your flash drive as well. You will need these later on in the semester.

My three examples are given below.
